About The Course

The Bassett Country Club golf course is 9 challenging holes.  The fairways and tees are Bermuda Grass, and the greens are Pencross Bent Grass.  The course is 6177 yards long, with tight, hilly fairways, and well-guarded, undulating greens.  The fairways and tees are usually overseeded with Rye Grass in the winter.

The course is open year round, with public play on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Often, tee times are not needed during the week, so stop in and play a round or two to try our course on public days.  The local saying goes, "If you can play well at Bassett, you can play well anywhere.

GREEN FEES:

Yearly Members: 9 Holes: $4.00; 18 Holes: $8.00 Cart Included.

Non-Members/Guests: (Public Play Mon-Fri all day; Sat.-Sun. after 1:00pm)

Mon-Fri: 9 Holes: $10.00;

18 Holes: $15.00 Cart Included.

Sat-Sun after 1:00pm:

9 Holes: 15.00;

18 Holes: $20.00 Cart Included

The course may be closed for Tournaments and Special Events.  Please check the calendar or call the Pro Shop at 276-629-3242, for the latest information and available play times.

Labor Day Captain’s Choice Tournament September 6th at 9:30 am.

 

Cost: $15.00 per member and $22.00 per non-member

 

Night Golf 

September 17th at 7:45 pm.

 

Cost: $10.00 per member and $15:00 per non-member

 

Club Championship

September 18th at 9:00am.

 

27 holes with handicap established by golf committee and flighted by handicap.

 

Cost:  $33.00, with prizes paid each nine holes

 

We will be continuing the golf package for Friday Couple’s play on the 2nd and 4th Fridays in September.  We are offering a golf package that includes your golf play and dinner in the dining room.  There is a special menu for the group, which includes tax and tip  in the price.  The cost is $25.00 for member couples and $35.00 for non-member couples. There will also be special prices for specific beverages for the golf special participants as well.  Sign up in the Pro Shop—play begins at 5:45pm.

We have had some good response to the fountain fund drive, and we are getting closer to the mark, but we still need a bit more.  We are extending the donation period another month.  If you have not had a chance to drop off or send in your checks for the cause, please do not forget us.  If each member would donate only $25.00, we can cover the costs.

 

 

I would like to thank you in advance for your donations, and I look forward to seeing the fountain working again.

From the Course

We will be doing aerification of the greens on Monday, September 13th. Volunteers will greatly be appreciated. Shovel knowledge and usage of such is a must.

 

From GA to NY, and through the middle of the U.S., this has been one of the toughest summers on record, for taking care of bent grass greens.  There have been many courses with loss of turf, some with whole greens lost, and some even losing half of their greens.  I feel very fortunate to have what we have at this time. As of this writing, the temperatures in the night time will be dropping below 70 degrees, which will help the greens tremendously.

Please try to come out and enjoy the fall weather. It is truly a great season to be outdoors.

Natural Light Shoot-Out:
Every Wednesday at 5:30pm. Please call by 5:15, so teams can be made and ready to go promptly at 5:30.

Ladies’ Group Play:
Every Tuesday at 5:30pm. 

Couple’s Play:
Every Friday evening at 5:30pm.
    
Please make plans to come out and enjoy some great weather and good golf.  It's been a long time for some of our members.
